Our Therapy Zoo “Animals as Teachers and Healers”

At Cornerstone Companions, we believe there is something almost magical about the way animals soften the sharp edges of life. At Cornerstone Companions, we believe there is something almost magical about the way animals soften the sharp edges of life. They don’t judge, don’t rush us, don’t ask us to explain our feelings—they just show up with steady eyes and warm presence. Whether it’s the slow rhythm of petting a dog, the quiet comfort of a horse’s breath, or the simple joy of a goofy tail wag, animals naturally calm our nervous systems and open our hearts. Therapy animals can lower anxiety, reduce blood pressure, ease depression, and help people feel safe enough to connect again—especially after trauma or loss. In a world that often feels loud and demanding, animals offer something rare: unconditional companionship. Sometimes healing doesn’t come from words at all… it comes from a paw in your hand and the quiet reminder that you’re not alone. 🐾

Mini horses have a uniquely gentle, grounding presence that makes them incredible partners in emotional therapy. Their small size feels approachable and non-intimidating, yet their steady strength and quiet intelligence create a deep sense of safety and trust. Standing beside a mini horse, you can feel their slow breathing, warm coat, and calm energy—things that naturally help regulate anxiety and bring people back into their bodies. They’re especially powerful for children, trauma survivors, and individuals with sensory or emotional challenges because they invite connection without pressure; you don’t have to “perform,” you just exist together. Grooming, walking, or simply resting a hand on their neck can lower stress hormones and spark moments of confidence, comfort, and joy. In many ways, mini horses don’t just offer therapy—they offer companionship that says, “You’re safe here,” and sometimes that’s exactly where healing begins. 🐴💛

Meet Our Kune Kune Pigs! Matilda, Marty, Charlotte & Puddin Pie

Our Kune Kune crew — Matilda, Marty, Charlotte, and sweet little Pudding Pie — bring a whole different kind of therapy magic that only pigs can. Our Kune Kune crew — Matilda, Marty, Charlotte, and sweet little Pudding Pie — bring a whole different kind of therapy magic that only pigs can. Their slow waddles, happy grunts, and goofy personalities make it almost impossible not to smile, and that instant joy is healing all by itself. Kune Kunes are naturally gentle and social, so they lean into connection, happily accepting belly rubs, brushes, and quiet company like tiny, fuzzy therapists on four hooves. Being around them grounds people in the present moment — you can’t stress about life when you’re laughing at Pudding Pie’s snorts or watching Marty flop down dramatically in the grass. They create a safe, playful space where walls come down, conversations open up, and hearts feel lighter. In their own adorable way, they remind us that comfort doesn’t have to be complicated — sometimes healing is just sunshine, soft noses, and a pig resting against your leg. 🐷💕
